We are proud to announce at this Seasons VSDCA Hatch Presentation Dinner that James Sheehan has received Life Membership in the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association (VSDCA).
As a longstanding member and passionate advocate for the sport of cricket, James has demonstrated unwavering dedication, exceptional skill, and invaluable contributions to our cricket community.
James’ time in the VSDCA began in the late 1990’s when he began as a player for Balwyn Cricket Club. In 2005 James was nominated as president of the Balwyn Cricket Club where he was president until 2014 where he moved overseas.
However, James’ tenure with the association did not cease as he continued to act as a board member for the association which is a role he still occupies today with distinction.
James is known for his outstanding contribution and demeanour across the competition and has been involved in the expansion of new clubs into the competition as well as the new salary cap and player points system. All these contributions continue to ensure that the VSDCA competition is continued to be widely regarded as one of the best competitions in Victoria.
James has been an integral part of our association for a number of years, consistently exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship, leadership, and camaraderie. James’ commitment to fostering a positive environment for players of all levels, from grassroots to elite, is truly commendable.
James’ achievements are highlighted by the below:
Debut in 1996/97 season and played last game in the 2020/21 season
Played 176 games making 2430 runs and took 54 wickets
Balwyn Cricket Club President from 2005/06 to 2013/14 (9 seasons)
Balwyn Cricket Club Life Member in 2014/15
Balwyn Cricket Club delegate to the VSDCA for 11 years from 2009/10 to 2013/14 and then again 2015/16 to
2020/21
Balwyn Cricket Club general committee from 1999/2000 to 2013/14

James’ tireless efforts have significantly enriched the cricketing experience for all members and have played a pivotal role in advancing the mission and objectives of our association.
Beyond his on-field accomplishments, James embodies the ethos of sportsmanship and fair play, serving as a role model and mentor to aspiring cricketers within our community.
